Hypermobility

Whole Body

Your joints move further than most people's, and along with that comes aching, easy fatigue, and a vague sense that things feel loose or unstable. The muscles work overtime trying to hold you together, and they let you know it.

What it is

When joints are lax, the muscles around them stay switched on far longer than they should to provide the stability the joints don't, and that constant overwork breeds tension and trigger points.

What makes it worse

Holding joints at the very end of their range, pushing into more stretch, plain fatigue, and repetitive loading all tend to stir it up, often the opposite of what relieves a stiff body.

How PNMT helps

Assessment is adapted for your extra range, since standard end-range tests can mislead, and the aim is to support the muscles doing the stabilizing work rather than chase more flexibility you already have. Jackie Leonard has particular experience with hypermobility and complex pain. If something points beyond muscle, your therapist refers on or works in coordination with your other care.

What to expect & how long

Expect a noticeably different emphasis than the stretch-it-out advice hypermobile people often get, the work supports stability, not more motion. This tends to be supportive management you return to as needed rather than a problem closed out in a fixed run of visits.

Sarah is amazing! She is both kind and great at helping to resolve chronic pain. My TMJ has improved so much with her care.

I've been going to soma vida for around 4-5 years. I think at this point for neuromuscular therapy. My coworker recommended it for my back pain. I mostly make appts with Yu, but I think I've had appts with everyone there atleast once. The treatment can be painful but I always come out feeling so light and so much better than before. I've had chronic neck pain from my desk job and other pain in areas that is only fixed by whatever they do here. They truly care about you and want to make sure you leave feeling better.
