Low Back Pain

Back

Maybe it's a deep ache after a day at your desk, a catch when you bend to tie your shoes, or a band of tightness that never quite lets go. Low back pain wears a lot of disguises.

What it is

Most low back pain is muscular: the muscles of the lower back, hips, and deep core take on load they were not set up to carry, and they start to ache, guard, and refer pain. The hips and mid-back often play a hidden role, which is why treating only the spot that hurts so often disappoints.

What makes it worse

It usually flares with prolonged sitting, repeated bending or lifting, long drives, and stress that quietly ratchets up muscle tension. Many people find it eases with movement and worsens after rest, or the reverse. That pattern itself is useful information for your therapist.

How PNMT helps

Your therapist starts with your pain history, then measures forward-bending range of motion and tests specific muscles to find which ones are actually driving your pain, including the hips and thoracic spine, not just the sore spot. Treatment is precise work on those source muscles, not broad pressure, with your feedback guiding it until the referral pattern is reproduced. If the picture points to a disc, joint, or non-muscular cause, your therapist will say so and refer you on.

What to expect & how long

Expect range-of-motion measured before and after, so improvement is something you can see, not just feel. Plan on at least three sessions, and often four to six, for meaningful change in long-standing back pain; chronic patterns can take longer, and your therapist will be honest about progress at each visit.

What clients say

Best massage and pain relief I’ve ever had. Yu was an amazing therapist who really cared and listened. She helped my neck and back with a long term injury and gave me hope that it might actually be treatable. Highly skilled and knowledgeable, couldn’t recommend more. Life changing.

Sarah is an angel on Earth, and I mean that truly. My experience with them has been life changing. had been suffering with work related neck, shoulder, low back, hip and sciatic pain for many years (probably close to 10). I had spent the past two years being treated by various chiropractors, personal trainers and massage therapists with temporary relief, but without true improvement. After seeing a review by another patient in the dental field I was compelled to schedule an appointment with Somavida. At that time, I couldn't sit for more than 20 min without being in severe pain and I couldn't sleep for more than an hour or two without waking up in severe pain. Not only was I unable to work, but I could not even drive in to work without stopping due to pain. My daily functions were severely inhibited and I was beginning to think I would never be about to work again. At my first appointment, Sarah was so incredibly lovely and calming. After discussing with her my current diagnosis from my chiropractor, she assessed my posture, my pain, my range of motion and my working postures. Sarah is so incredibly knowledgeable and thorough that after her treatment that day I was pain-free for the first time in years. YEARS! I broke into happy tears while still on the massage table.
