Pain During Pregnancy

Whole Body

New low back, hip, or pelvic ache that wasn't there before pregnancy and tends to grow as your posture and the load you carry keep shifting.

What it is

As pregnancy progresses, postural change and increased ligament laxity steadily load the low back, hips, and pelvis, and the muscles in those areas take the strain and start to ache.

What makes it worse

Prolonged standing or walking, the moment of changing position, and the later trimesters as the load increases all commonly intensify it.

How PNMT helps

Your therapist sets you up in comfortable, well-supported positioning chosen for your stage of pregnancy, then works gently and precisely on the muscles taking the load (never heavy pressure) always alongside your prenatal provider's guidance. Anything that feels beyond a muscular ache belongs with your prenatal provider or urgent care, not a session, and your therapist will defer to that care without hesitation.

What to expect & how long

The priority is your comfort, and what's appropriate naturally changes as you move through the trimesters, so the work adapts with your body and can continue right through pregnancy. Positioning and intensity are adjusted to how you feel that day rather than held to a fixed routine.

What clients say

Sarah is AMAZING!!! I have had horrible issues with my neck and back during all of my pregnancies. I normally sleep on my back and toward the 5th month of each pregnancy I start sleeping on my side. I guess that particular sleep position does not work for my body because I end up getting a 'crick' in my neck and I am unable to look in either direction. The pain was horrible and no one could get it out. Luckily I stumbled about her when the same problem arose during pregnancy #2 and now she is my go to gal for everything!!! Sarah finds the knots, applies pressure and it feels as though they are dissolving right under her hands. Amazing! I highly recommend Sarah.

I've been going to soma vida for around 4-5 years. I think at this point for neuromuscular therapy. My coworker recommended it for my back pain. I mostly make appts with Yu, but I think I've had appts with everyone there atleast once. The treatment can be painful but I always come out feeling so light and so much better than before. I've had chronic neck pain from my desk job and other pain in areas that is only fixed by whatever they do here. They truly care about you and want to make sure you leave feeling better.
