Knee Pain

Legs & Feet Restorative Skills

Stairs, standing up after a long sit, or dropping into a squat brings on a pain that feels like it is coming from deep inside the knee. That "in the joint" feeling is the part that worries most people.

What it is

Knee pain is often less about the joint than about the muscles pulling on it. Imbalances in the thigh and hip (the quadriceps, hamstrings, and the muscles that steer the kneecap) can load the knee unevenly and refer pain right where you feel it.

What makes it worse

It frequently worsens going up or down stairs, after sitting still for a while, on downhill walks, with deep squats, and after a sudden change in how active you are. Many people notice it settles with gentle movement and flares with the extremes.

How PNMT helps

Your therapist takes your pain history, then assesses knee range of motion, how the kneecap tracks, and the quad, hamstring, and hip muscles to find which ones are driving your symptoms. Treatment is precise work on those muscular contributors, confirmed by your feedback rather than heavy pressure, and Restorative Skills can teach you simple self-treatment to hold the gains between visits. If anything suggests damage inside the joint rather than a muscular cause, your therapist will refer you for medical evaluation.

What to expect & how long

Range of motion is measured before and after, so improvement is something you can see rather than just feel. Long-standing knee patterns rarely shift in a single visit and usually take a handful of focused sessions; if the irritation is recent, sometimes fewer. Restorative Skills can give you simple self-treatment to hold the gains between visits, and your therapist will give an honest read on progress as you go.

What clients say

Best clinical massage I've had in thirty years and around the world. They were the first to actually treat a chronic pain in my left knee and hip! Can't say enough good about them.

Sarah is amazing! She is both kind and great at helping to resolve chronic pain. My TMJ has improved so much with her care.

I've been going to soma vida for around 4-5 years. I think at this point for neuromuscular therapy. My coworker recommended it for my back pain. I mostly make appts with Yu, but I think I've had appts with everyone there atleast once. The treatment can be painful but I always come out feeling so light and so much better than before. I've had chronic neck pain from my desk job and other pain in areas that is only fixed by whatever they do here. They truly care about you and want to make sure you leave feeling better.
