Shoulder Pain
There is an ache set deep in the shoulder, or a jab with one particular reach, and you cannot quite put a finger on where it is coming from. The vagueness is part of why shoulder pain is so frustrating.
What it is
The shoulder has many possible muscular sources of pain (the rotator cuff, the deltoid, the scapular stabilizers, and pain referred down from the neck) which is why treating "the shoulder" generically so often misses. The driver is frequently not where the ache is loudest.
What makes it worse
It commonly flares with overhead or repetitive load, with rounded sitting and screen posture, and with carrying or lifting that asks the shoulder to stabilize under weight. The aggravating reach is often a useful clue in itself.
How PNMT helps
Your therapist starts with your pain history, then uses range-of-motion and resisted testing to pinpoint which muscles around the shoulder, shoulder blade, and neck are actually driving your pain. Treatment is precise work on those confirmed muscles rather than broad pressure, with your feedback steering it until the referral is reproduced. If the findings point to a structural or other non-muscular cause, your therapist will say so and refer you on.
What to expect & how long
The work adjusts to your feedback throughout, and reach plus the catchy overhead and behind-the-back positions are retested as you go so you can register the loosening yourself. For stubborn shoulder pain, a few appointments are the realistic picture, and recovery tends to be steadier when you and your therapist stay in step about what is and is not changing.
What clients say
I met Sarah last year in September and I have used neuromuscular therapists before and she is amazing. She dedicates herself on keeping up with latest education. When you go there with a pain she will make sure she listens to your needs and try to ensure you are pain free by the time you leave your appt. depending on how severe it could take a few sessions but she won't stop until she figures out the source of the problem! I am a dentist and come to therapy about 1x month. I have elbow and shoulder pain as well as IT band issues. If I come in with pain I leave feeling almost 100 % if not better. She is a wonderful person and makes sure to give her clients at home care instructions. I'm so happy to have found her!
Yu was wonderful. I have been having hip pain for a while now and after my assessment appointment tonight, I feel so much better. She found every tight spot and adhesion and worked it all out. She also worked on my neck and shoulders (too much sitting at the computer at work) and my neck has not felt this good in ages. I would highly recommend Yu for muscle treatment and Somavida any day. I will be going regularly.
Somavida has been a Godsend for me and my husband and friends. I started going to Sarah over a year ago, first to help with my neck/shoulder issues, and now my hip. I have referred her business to several of my friends and my husband, who all have been very pleased. Sarah has a great personality and is loving and thoughtful about her practice. She listens and is gifted to find the root of the problem. She really is a gift from God! Several of my friends have also seen Yu, and they have been very pleased with her. I can't speak highly enough of Somavida and all their staff!
